The base coat uses proprietary resins, which have been developed over many years to promote lifetime performance in all climates. The stone chips that are used in Stone Coating are non-oiled natural granite granules that improve adherence to the base coat while enhancing the appearance of panels.

Q. Is a Metal Roof Heavy?
A. At only 1.4 lbs. per square foot, a Stone Coated Steel Roof is truly “lightweight”. Concrete and clay roofs can weigh up to 15 lbs per square foot! In fact a stone coated roof is even lighter than most high-grade asphalt roof shingles.

A. Not necessarily. Stone Coated Steel Roofs can be installed over existing wood shingle, shake or composition roofs. Your local contractor will check local building codes. Additional preparation work may be necessary to get the surface ready for your new stone coated metal roof.
